Magic in your Hands

Tarot collaged from hand-cut paper images

My Tarot Story

It all started with The Emperor card and Kendall Jenner’s metal armor boots in Vogue…

When my own life was having a “Tower” moment from experiencing grief of losing dear loved ones to corporate burnout - I began learning the Tarot to find answers to life’s existential questions. I’ve always been a big believer in creativity and its power to heal. The more I learned the meanings, messages, and secrets of the Tarot, the more I began seeing similar imagery in modern day fashion magazines.

Thus, the Tulip Magic Tarot Deck was born.

From 1,000s of images in my personal archives, I knew they were just waiting to be turned into TAROT MAGIC. Collage art has always helped me navigate and alchemize my intense emotions and deep feelings and was the perfect passion project to dive into. Little did I know it would take me two magical years of creation!

A Family Affair

A key player in the Tarot making game was my Mother-in-Law who helped me source magazines from Libraries all around California. We spent days and nights organizing, filing, and sorting images that fit the vibe and colors of my deck’s inspiration, the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot deck, as it’s the world’s most widely produced deck with the most well-known card images. I knew if my collage art emulated this deck, beginners and seasoned Tarot readers alike would be able to recognize the images.

So the treasure hunt began!

After I completed over half the deck, I had a hard time finding swords to complete the 14-cards of the Swords Suit - no matter how many National Geographic magazines my Mother-in-Law and I sourced. Therefore, I asked my artist Father if I could dip into his sacred collage stash he’s been collecting and coveting since the 1970’s. As a result, I am so grateful for the collaboration of my Father’s collage collection, as it helped me cross the finish line of those really hard to find symbolic pieces!

Match the cards side-by-side with the Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot deck to see the play of imagery come to life. Here are a series of the sword images I found in my Father’s collection!

The Unboxing Reveal

I was proud of myself for pouring into a massive project that truly filled a piece of my everyday. Whether it was sourcing magazines, finding images, cutting them out, scanning them, and arranging them to fit just right, I was thinking, dreaming, and learning about Tarot.

The anticipation was REAL.

After two years of making the 78-cards and writing a 100-page guidebook from scratch, I awaited a long four months for their arrival from the printers. I was dreaming of the look and feel of the cards and how the images and Tarot archetypes would come to life in my hands.

They say it’s all about the journey and not the outcome - and I would say it’s BOTH. It was nothing short of amazing to work with my Mother-In-Law and Dad in an artistic and creative way during the birth of these cards. And now to have a legacy printed together forever?

It’s beyond special

I truly believe creativity heals and brings you to places one could not imagine or fathom. Dreams do come true, especially if you work for them just a little everyday. Never in my wildest of dreams would I have thought just two years ago, that I would be a full-time Tarot Reader and Independent Artist - but here I am!

A VERY special thank you to my Husband, Steve, and the support team of friends and family who encouraged me along the way. I feel liberated, free, excited, ecstatic and overjoyed. This is a product of all of you and SO MUCH LOVE.

Thank you for being part of my story.
